£600 Raised for The Children & Young People’s Cancer Association and Welcome Café

Sunday 1st February 2026

Friends and family of well-known Lyme Regis resident Lynnette Ravenscroft gathered at Lyme Regis Golf Club on Friday afternoon for a cream tea celebration in honour of Lynnette’s birthday. Alongside the celebrations, a raffle raised an impressive £600 for two local and national causes close to Lynnette’s heart: The Children & Young People’s Cancer Association and the Welcome Café.

The Welcome Café, where Lynnette volunteers, runs friendly and welcoming afternoon café sessions at Lyme Regis Football Club. The café supports local people who may be at risk of isolation due to medical conditions such as dementia or mobility issues. The dedicated team of volunteers not only provide free tea and coffee, homemade cakes and sandwiches, and afternoon activities, but also collect guests who may need assistance getting to the venue.

The Children & Young People’s Cancer Association is a charity committed to creating a brighter future for children and young people affected by cancer, offering vital support to both patients and their families.

A passionate supporter of the local community, Lynnette is a regular fundraiser who organises events throughout the year. In addition to her work with the Welcome Café, she also supports the Community Café at The Hub and volunteers with the Lyme Regis Regatta & Carnival.
