The annual reprofiling of the Sandy Beach began yesterday. Following the winter storms, tonnes of sand have been washed away. Dorset Council contractors are now using heavy machinery to recover sand from the shoreline and redistribute it back onto the beach.
Some reprofiling of the shingle areas may also take place afterwards.
For public safety, the beach is currently closed and secured with Heras fencing. The fencing is expected to be removed by 25 March.
