Children took to Lyme Regis beach during Carnival Week for a chance to Beat the Goalie, with youngsters lining up to test their penalty-taking skills against a series of local goalkeepers.
The popular event saw children step up to the spot and take two penalties, with a medal awarded to anyone who managed to score both. In total, 35 medals were awarded to the young players who successfully found the back of the net twice. The medals were sponsored by Love Lyme Regis, adding an extra incentive for the young footballers taking part.
There was plenty of encouragement from the sidelines as children of all ages waited for their turn, with each penalty bringing cheers from friends, family and spectators on the beach.
The goalkeeping challenge was made even more special by the participation of goalkeepers including Hector and from local youth football teams, alongside Jack Kerrs and JJ Ellis, who all took their turns between the posts and faced a steady stream of determined young penalty takers.
With the sand, sea and Carnival Week atmosphere providing the backdrop, Beat the Goalie proved to be a fun and lively addition to the celebrations, giving children the chance to show off their football skills, enjoy some friendly competition and, for the 35 successful players, take home a well-earned medal.
