The annual Blessing of the Boats service took place today, honouring the lives of those lost at sea while offering blessings to all who go to sea, whether professionally or for leisure.
Representatives from RNLI Lyme Regis, Royal British Legion, Lyme Regis Coastguard, Lyme Regis Sailing Club, Bluetits, Sea School, Lyme Rib Rides, and local powerboat and gig clubs attended the event. Music was provided by Lyme Regis Town Band, while the Lyme Bay Moonrakers performed during the service.
The ceremony concluded with wreaths being taken out to sea by the lifeboat crew in remembrance of those who have lost their lives at sea, while also expressing relief and gratitude for the lifeboat crews, coastguards and helicopter rescue teams who have saved so many live
