Lyme Regis Carnival and Regatta Team has announced a record-breaking £33,244 in grants awarded to 31 local good causes.
The impressive total follows the outstanding success of Carnival Week and a series of popular community events held throughout the year, including the Christmas Tree Festival, Santa’s Grotto, Easter Bonnet Parade, May Fete, August fireworks, Torchlight Processions and the November fireworks display. This year’s distribution surpasses last year’s figure of £24,715 by a significant margin.
Chairman Alan Vian said:
“We’re thrilled to distribute such a substantial sum. It really makes all the hard work from our core team and volunteers worthwhile.
We did face some difficult choices, as applications totalled more than £64,756, but we’re delighted to be supporting so many fantastic organisations in our community.
We are very grateful to all those who support us including all the wonderful local business sponsors and supporters who contributed financially and those who provided a prize for our bingo or raffles plus Lyme Regis Town Council for their contribution towards the cost of the fireworks.”
The Lyme Regis Regatta & Carnival team is made up of:
Alan Vian (Chairman), Rob James, Karen Skardon James, Annette Denning, Jacob Denning, Joshua Denning, Gilly Clark, Ellis Holt, AJ Hutchings, Mark Lester and Angela Main.
The core team is supported by a dedicated group of volunteers who help ensure all events run smoothly throughout the year.
