Beyond the Surface is a new collaborative exhibition showcasing the work of Terry Coverdale, Jan Dean, Maggie Pratt and Lisanne Mealing.
Terry Coverdale’s expressive mixed media work evolves in layers of pattern, texture, colour and line, inviting you to look beyond the surface of her seascapes and florals to discover what lies beneath.
Jan Dean’s paintings are about ancient places and layered time. They are expressive landscapes painted with varying levels of abstraction.
Maggie Pratt is a fiber artist based in Charmouth, working with the technique of needle-felted wool to explore the changing world beneath the surface of the ocean.
Lisanne’s paintings are less about depicting the world than about celebrating the feeling of being alive within it, giving her paintings a layered authenticity. They feel made by someone who is continually observing, gathering, and transforming experience into image.
The exhibition runs from Tuesday 8 until Thursday 17 September and is open daily from 10:30am until 4:30pm. Admission is free of charge.
