Botanical : Jess Hollis

Dates for next event to be confirmed

Jess Hollis launches Botanical, her first ever exhibition showcasing her fine art botanical photography. It will be an appreciation of nature’s simplicity, a celebration of its bold colours and intricate details and an exploration of botany’s complexities and its meandering, yet precise, forms.

Drawn to the beauty of the environment right on her doorstep, Jess began her journey into photography five years ago. She says “living in the semi-rural landscapes of East Devon, where farmlands meet the Jurassic coastline, I am surrounded by nature’s quiet wonders. My small garden studio is filled with hedgerow flowers and curious objects gathered on walks, while the view through the windows reveals the changing seasons unfolding across the meadowed wetlands and riverbanks swollen with rain. This ever changing environment is at the heart of my photography, it inspires a sense of stillness and reverence in every frame."

Through this exhibition, Jess invites viewers to pause and connect with the intricate beauty of botanicals. Her aim is to showcase the details that are often overlooked, textures, patterns, and the subtle play of light, creating a moment of stillness and reflection. By blending ultra-realistic photography with artistic expression, the intention is to want people to question what they see: is it photographed or painted?

The exhibition runs from Saturday 15 until Saturday 22 February and is open daily from 10am until 4pm. Entry is free of charge.
