To commemorate the 250th anniversary of Jane Austen’s birth in 1775, the museum are offering a guided walk with Fred Humphrey around some of the town that Jane would have seen during her visits in 1803 and 1804.
In her novel Persuasion, completed some 12 years later in 1816, Jane Austen based a key moment of the story on the Cobb, here in Lyme Regis. The walk blends this episode with some of the contemporary history of Lyme, and a few illustrations of the filming that was done here for the five film and TV versions of her story.
The walk lasts between 60 and 90 minutes, starting at the museum and finishing on The Cobb. The walk avoids most of Lyme’s challenging inclines.
Adult tickets cost £8.95, child tickets cost £6.95 and the ticket price includes admission to the museum.
