In 2018 photographer Andrew Haydon moved to a village near Bridport in West Dorset where he focused on the abundant wildlife and stunning landscapes that Dorset has to offer. Developing his own style, he enjoys harnessing Dorset’s wonderful light and particularly how it can be interpreted in black and white photography.
With his new exhibition, Shadows, Andrew has drawn on the splendour of landscapes and the beauty that is ever present in the natural world. He has tried to reflect the many moods they can express and their timeless elegance, inviting the viewer to immerse themselves in these images, to pause and contemplate.
Through the interplay of light and shadow he aims to evoke a sense of contemplation throwing part of his soul and mood into the composition, so it is reflected back through the lens to the image.
In 2023 he was selected as a finalist for the Marshwood Art Awards and published in Black and White photography magazine. In 2021, 2022 and 2023 he held solo exhibitions at both the Malthouse and Courtyard galleries in Lyme Regis and had further exhibitions at the Eype Centre for the Arts, also showing at the Bridport and Ilminster Art Centres.
The exhibition runs from Friday 14 June until Thursday 20 June. Admission is free of charge.
