Each year the Town Mill welcomes The Woodroffe school as part of their community programme, using the gallery space to provide an exhibition showcase for art students between the age of 11 and 18.
This year, as part of their own community outreach, the school is supporting the Weldmar Hospice’s fundraising initiative, Stampede by the Sea and this exhibition will be a pre-cursor to their involvement with Weldmar’s fantastic spring campaign.
From the iconic cliffs at West Bay to the Cobb at Lyme Regis, Weldmar Hospicecare’s Stampede by the Sea event will feature around fifty elephant sculptures placed across the area to create a fun and free art trail that will be accessible to all with the official trail starting on the 28 March and running until 27 May.
A perfect activity for local families, and an engaging attraction for visitors to the area, each elephant will have been designed by a talented artist, and sponsored by a local business. At the end of the trail, each elephant will be sold at auction to raise vital funds for Weldmar Hospicecare, who provide specialist end of life care for local adults with a life limiting illness, and support for their loved ones.
The exhibition runs from Wednesday 5 until Tuesday 11 February and is open daily from 11am until 3pm. Entry is free of charge. There is also a private viewing from 6pm until 8pm on Friday evening.
