Local historian Ken Gollop will be giving an illustrated talk on ‘When the Yanks came to Lyme’ on Sunday 20th October at Woodmead Halls in recognition of the 80th anniversary of their arrival in November 1943 training for D-Day. At that time, US troops were secretly stationed throughout the south west of England in preparation for the D-Day landings in Normandy and Mr Gollop has extensively researched this period using archival material.
