1,048 Ducks Make a Splash at Lyme Regis Halloween Duck Race

Sunday 1st November 2026

A total of 1,048 ducks took to the water earlier today for the Lyme Regis Halloween Duck Race, which got off to a spooky start thanks to members of Lyme Morris, who set the ducks on their way.

The event raised funds for Lyme Heartbeat, the local organisation which has installed and maintains 17 life-saving defibrillators in and around Lyme Regis.

There were four lucky winners, with cash prizes awarded as follows:
First prize (£100): Duck 1209 – Beverley Jones
Second prize (£50): Duck 1485 – Lucy Dawkins-Wall
Third prize (£20): Duck 1224 – Natasha Luthra
Last duck home (£10): Duck 105 – Sue Morgan
The race was generously sponsored by Lyme Regis Aquarium.

The event also attracted plenty of younger visitors, with lots of children attending in their Halloween fancy dress costumes. Each child was given a spooky duck, kindly donated by Lyme Regis Amusements.
Rob James, Karen Skardon James and John King, representing Lyme Heartbeat, thanked everyone who helped make the event such a success.

Special thanks went to Annette Denning, Joshua Denning, Alan Vian, Lynne Vian, Steve Parsons, Joey Thirlwell, Mark Bujniewicz, Sam Harding, Anita Williams,  Paul Oakley and Lyme Morris for giving their time and assistance.
The event was another fantastic community effort, bringing plenty of Halloween fun to Lyme Regis while raising valuable funds for vital life-saving equipment.
