A special visitor to Lyme Regis on Sunday, HMS Dauntless was anchored off the Cobb.

HMS Dauntless is a Type 45 destroyer, designed primarily for anti-air warfare with the capability to defend against sophisticated targets such as fighter aircraft, drones as well as highly manoeuvrable sea skimming anti-ship missiles travelling at high speeds.

The Royal Navy describes the destroyers mission as being “to shield the Fleet from air attack”.

HMS Dauntless arrived on Sunday afternoon before departing Monday morning and was a great sight to see for those out and about during their daily exercise while lockdown continues.
