Lyme Regis firefighter Jeff Matthews retires after 38 years of service

Tomorrow marks the retirement of Lyme Regis firefighter Jeff Matthews, who has dedicated an incredible 38 and a half years to the fire service - 20 years with Devon and the past 18 and a half years with Lyme Regis.

This evening, fire crews from Lyme, Charmouth, and Devon plus Jeff's family gathered at Lyme Regis Fire Station for his final drill night, paying tribute to his outstanding career and commitment.

Lyme’s Chief Fire Officer, Virgil Turner, spoke warmly about Jeff’s years of service before presenting him with a framed photograph and a mounted firefighter’s axe as tokens of gratitude and respect.

Congratulations Jeff on your long and dedicated service. Wishing you health and happiness in your well-earned retirement!
