Pilates on the beach raises over £300 during Lyme Regis Carnival Week

Monday 10th August 2026

A series of Pilates sessions held on the beach in Lyme Regis during Carnival Week has raised more than £300 for the community.

Local Pilates instructor Tessa Morton hosted three morning sessions on the beach, inviting people of all ages and abilities to come along, enjoy some gentle exercise and take part in the Carnival Week celebrations.

Tessa trained in London in the STOTT Pilates method, a contemporary approach to Pilates that focuses on simple, controlled movements designed to support balance, strength, flexibility and good posture.

With an emphasis on making Pilates accessible to everyone, Tessa wanted the beach sessions to be relaxed, welcoming and inclusive. The classes were suitable for all ages and fitness levels, whether participants were completely new to Pilates or already familiar with the practice.

The unique setting also added to the experience, with participants able to exercise outdoors while enjoying the fresh sea air and views across Lyme Regis.

The sessions were free, with participants invited to make a donation in the collecting bucket held by local fundraising champion Joshua Denning.
