Meet the Turnstones Who Follow Jenna to Work at the Aquarium in Lyme Regis

Tuesday 30th December 2025

A flock of turnstones have made the Cobb their home and have taken a liking to Jenna who works at the Aquarium. When she arrives for work, they recognise her and eagerly follow her, hoping for a bit of food.

These migratory birds, more accurately known as Ruddy Turnstones, can be found here year-round. Different populations pass through during spring and autumn migration, and they are often spotted on rocky shores and gravel beaches searching for invertebrates.

The Cobb is an excellent place to observe their distinctive and entertaining feeding behaviour.
