On the 80th anniversary of VE Day (Victory in Europe Day), Lyme Regis will join the rest of the nation to commemorate 80 years of peace since the end of World War II in Europe. VE Day 80 is not only a tribute to those who fought for freedom but also a powerful reminder of the resilience and unity that have defined our country ever since.
Join us to commemorate the 80th anniversary of VE Day on Thursday 8th May 2025 by taking part in a torchlight procession followed by the lighting of a beacon.
At 8.45pm a torchlight procession will set off from Langmoor Gardens, making its way down on to the Sandy Beach where a ring of fire will be formed.
At 9.30pm a beacon will be lit by the Mayor of Lyme Regis on the North Wall of the harbour.
Purchase your torches or children’s LED batons online and collect from 8pm on the night of the event at the Pound Street entrance to Langmoor Gardens.
A limited number of torches and LED batons will be on sale on the night, subject to availability. Numbers will be limited, so we advise you to reserve online to avoid disappointment.
Stand together in gratitude, honouring the sacrifices that secured our freedom.
The event is organised by Lyme Regis Regatta & Carnival.
