The annual Blessing of the Boats service today which acknowledges the lives of those lost at sea while blessing all those who go to sea professionally or for leisure.
Lyme Regis RNLI, the Royal British Legion, Lyme Regis Coastguard, Lyme Regis Sailing Club, Bluetits, Sea School, Powerboat and Gig clubs were represented.
Lyme Bay Moonrakers and Lyme Bay Chorale performed with music provided by Lyme Regis Town Band.
The service concluded with wreaths being taken to be laid at sea by the lifeboat crew to commemorate those lost at sea but also to celebrate ‘relief and gratitude’ for lifeboat crews, coastguards and helicopter crews, all of whom have saved many lives.
