Originally built in the 18th century, the grade II listed Rock Point Inn is located at Cobb Gate, right on the seafront with views overlooking the bay. The pub was acquired by St Austell Brewery in 2018 and reopened in 2020 after extensive restoration work to give the building a new lease of life. As well as 9 bedrooms, the pub has a restaurant, bar and terrace and offers traditional pub fayre including sandwiches, steak, burgers, fish and chips.
The beautiful three story, late-Georgian building originally had a Georgian-style bayed-window frontage with a stepped entrance to the main doorway; however, this feature was replaced by two arched windows and a feature doorway (now a window) sometime in the 1840s. During the early 19th century, the property was called Bank House, although there is no evidence it ever functioned as a bank. The building was requisitioned by the armed forces during World War II before returning to use as a hotel and bar.
