Rockpooling is a wonderful way for kids to get closer to marine life. At low tide a craggy expanse of limestone rock known as Broad Ledge is exposed on the eastern side of town. As the tide recedes, rockpools full of amazing marine creatures are revealed on this large flat area of rock.
Looking in rock pools can be really fun as they are natural aquariums where you can discover anemones, crabs, limpets, winkles and an array of seaweeds.
You can join organised rock pool rambles run by the Charmouth Heritage Centre.
