Lyme Regis is widely regarded as the birthplace of palaeontology and over the weekend thousands descended on the town as it celebrated its rich geological history with the Lyme Regis Fossil Festival.
There was so much to see and do at what is described as "the greatest public palaeontological event in the UK", with an abundance of activities for all ages including engaging walks, thought-provoking and informative talks, fascinating exhibitions, fossil polishing, lots of hands-on science plus a myriad of trade stalls displaying their fossil curios.
